I took Katie in this morning for her annual check-up. She is healthy as can be and was a champ like always while getting the last of the immunizations that she needs for kindergarten. Here are her official stats:

Snow Day #3
The kids were all off from school today because of the snow. When I gave Katie the news this morning she exclaimed, "Yay! I get to spend more time with my sisters!" I've enjoyed having my little ladies home with me today.

We headed south to do a little hiking in some warmer weather last weekend. We ended up at Wet Beaver Creek which was a hit with the kids and dogs.

Celebrating Katie's Birthday
We gave Katie a scooter for her birthday so that Abby and Sarah can have theirs back!

Happy 5th Birthday, Katie!
It's so hard to believe that Katie turns 5 years old today. It seems like just yesterday I was taken by surprise when I leaned over to pick up Sarah one morning and realized that my water broke ... two weeks before the scheduled C-section! A few hours later we had a precious little girl with a full head of black hair. The dark hair is long gone now and so are the baby days.
Katie sure is turning into quite the little lady. She is opening up much more at school this year and has even been described as "talkative" at times. Although, she recently informed me that preschool is "too easy" and she is ready for kindergarten to begin. Katie has a strong desire to learn and frequently wants to do school work alongside her sisters, so I'm anxious to see how school goes next year.
She has also developed a strong love of music and has decided that her favorite day of the week is Wednesday because she gets to go to music class. I frequently catch Katie singing the songs, doing the solfeg hand signs, clapping rhythms, etc., but she gets embarrassed as soon as she realizes I'm watching. So cute!
Finally, Katie has become quite the dog lover. She cuddles up with our dogs and takes great care of them. Which explains why Katie wanted the dogs with her when I told her that I needed to take a picture for this blog post. Unfortunately, Jester wasn't too cooperative because it involved standing on the snow, so only Antra ended up in the picture with Katie.
We love you very much, Katie. And although you still have your stubborn moments that give us gray hairs, we are so blessed to have such a caring, bright, funny, beautiful daughter like you. We hope you have a wonderful birthday!

Fun in the Snow With Cousins
Owen, Alex, and Paige made the trip up the hill for Katie's birthday party this past weekend. Fortunately, we got a fresh dusting of snow while they were here.

On Saturday, we celebrated Katie's 5th birthday with a few friends and family. After her caterpillar cupcakes last year, Katie thought it would be appropriate to have a butterfly theme this year. Thanks to everyone who came to the party to celebrate with us.
