Dancers

Out of the blue at dinner this evening, Katie stood up and said, "Dance, dance, dance," while dancing in her booster seat. Of course, Sarah and Abby followed, and I couldn't help but grab the camera before telling them to sit down. No wonder it takes us an hour to eat dinner! It's going to be a long 4 days without Kyle around to help ...

Fire Bill

When I picked the girls up from school today I asked, "What did you do today?" They answered, "Fire." When I asked a little more, they said "We talked about fire Bill." I was a bit puzzled so I asked them to explain. Abby's explanation went something like this:

"You hear a really loud noise and we line up in a straight line. Then we go outside and stand by the wall next to the parking lot. There wasn't a fire so we could go back inside."

That's when the lightbulb went on. I asked, "You mean fire DRILL?" They both said, "Yes." But when I asked Sarah to explain what you do in a fire drill she couldn't tell me a thing. She must have been daydreaming at school today. :)

Our Days are Numbered

I think that Katie's crib days are numbered. She's still a bit scared to slide all the way down to the floor on her own, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before she is confident enough to do it.

San Diego

We made a quick trip to San Diego last weekend to get our beach fix while we still could. The car rides were understandably long, but we enjoyed the two days on the beach.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

In honor of this special day, we decided that we needed to have a "special" breakfast. We were so cute with our request that Mom couldn't resist, so we headed to Bashas' for donuts. They were yummy! Sorry you couldn't join us, Dad. We brought a cookie home for you though. Aren't we thoughtful? Happy Birthday! We love you!
Love,
Abby, Sarah, and Katie

P.S. Mom says she is still working on the San Diego pictures. Stay tuned...

Happy Birthday to Me

Since I'm rarely on the other side of the camera, I thought I would post this picture. The girls had fun helping me open my presents. We're off to Phoenix this evening and then on to San Diego in the morning. Look for beach pictures sometime next week.

Fun Filled Sunday

Long story short: We went to try out the new indoor pool, it was closed for repairs, tears flowed, and Aunt Erin saved the day by giving us passes to another pool. Thanks so much! We all had fun swimming.
Later that day we went to a neighborhood block party, and the girls were thrilled to sit inside a firetruck. This was the first time they weren't scared of it. Uncle Dan, I think they are ready to visit you at work again sometime!

Sign of the Times

So, I swear they didn't learn this from me. I'm not much of a cell phone user and have never talked on the phone while pushing Katie's stroller, but this is what I saw on our walk today. Wonder what their children will imitate in 25 years or so?

Backyard Before and After Pics

Phase 1 of our backyard landscaping project is complete, and we finally got around to putting the tools away so that I could take some pictures. We love the results and enjoy spending time out there. In a few years we will add a large water feature, built-in BBQ and bench seating around the patio, and vegetable garden. For those of you who haven't seen it in person, take a look at the before and after pictures to see where most of our time (and money!) went this summer.
